St. Petersburg scientific school of stiff optimization (history and review of main scientific results)

Brief description of history of development of stiff optimization problem decision by St. Petersburg (Leningrad) school is presented. It is established that main results are derived from basic theory of stiff dynamic systems. Main results of mathematical programming of stiff problems are stated.
