        <p>A novel soft-decision decoding algorithm for Reed-Solomon codes is presented. Its error-correction capability is shown to be higher than the one of Koetter-Vardy algorithm. The proposed algorithm is based on a combination of the layered algorithm, which provides efficient implementation of the interpolation step of the Koetter-Vardy method, and Chase method.</p>
